Ellsworth Air Force Base Deployment Center

This new facility is the epicenter for all Ellsworth AFB deployment functions and optimizes processes by housing all aspects of passenger and cargo processing under one roof. The Center includes classrooms for pre-deployment and mobility training, large briefing rooms, passenger holding areas, passenger screening areas, control center, office areas, and baggage and cargo handling systems. The facility is state-of-the-art with advanced communication systems, command and control elements, and cargo processing equipment. Technologies include x-ray machines, metal detectors, conveyor systems, advanced security systems and an automated cargo manifesting system in the cargo bay that takes a picture of cargo then calculates the measurements, axle weights, and center of balance, recording all data in a database. The facility features modern and professional finishes and furnishings and provides an orderly, sophisticated atmosphere for troops during deployment operations, as well as a presentable public appearance for the media and for families welcoming troops home from tour.
